4th of July Wedding Inspiration

I'm going to let you guys in on little secret - I love Independence Day.  The 4th of July has always been my favorite holiday. I don't know if it's because my dad is a career military officer or if it's because I grew up so close to the Nation's capital, but I've always had a heightened sense or patriotism. I'll take fireworks, watermelon, and family time on the patio over Christmas carols, Easter brunch, or Thanksgiving dinner any day of the week. I'm getting pretty fired up just thinking about it, actually.

I love it so much that when we were in the early stages of planning our wedding I originally tried to convince Micah that we should get married on the 4th of July! Although the 4th fell on a Saturday last year (perfect!) and all of our favorite venues were still available (it was meant to be!) we ultimately decided that we didn't want to extend our engagement even longer just so we could get married on a holiday. Now every year we celebrate our anniversary on March 28 and throw a massive party in our home on the 4th of July to make up for it.

While I generally am not an advocate for fully themed events (they give me flashbacks to 3rd grade My Little Pony birthday parties), I am a huge fan of bringing in pops of color to a neutral color palette to tell the story of your big day. Check out the photos below for some of my favorite, red, white, and blue wedding inspiration. Naturally, I also included gold because I am a believer that gold can be an accent color for anything ;)

Does anyone else love Independence Day as much as I do? If you need me this weekend you can find me with my family -  sparkler and watermelon in hand!
